A TINY cellar in a Grade Two listed farmhouse has been reclaimed – and turned into an office by Basement Living Group member Cook Group Ltd. Engineers from the Hull-based preservation specialists have created a usable space by first digging out to a depth of 500mm, beefing up the foundations to reduce the chance of anything spreading and installing a sump. |

A membrane was laid to the floor and walls and dry lined. This ensured that the basement which measures approximately 1.5 m x 2m became valuable space. Cook Group specialists then laid new quarry tiles to the floor to keep the conservation officer happy and reclaimed oak beams were fitted retrospectively to the floor above. These have been left exposed to create an ambient atmosphere in what is essentially a confined space.
